After two years, AC Milan can say they have tasted success in the Derby della Madonnina once again after a 1-2 victory on Sunday. The importance of the win is substantial, and the team can now hopefully move forward.
Winning a derby is a significant thing, but doing so at this moment makes it that much bigger for Milan. A club that have started the season poorly, now have been given a golden chance to push forward as they went level with their biggest rivals for the Scudetto by beating them.
Questions have been asked about the unity of the Rossoneri, and Sunday showed a united team, which Fonseca desired, and this, perhaps, is the biggest thing to take from the result. If the team can continue to play, and more importantly fight, for one another in the same way, surely the only way forward is up.
