Paul Pogba has branded Zlatan Ibrahimovic an AC Milan legend but denied that he had contacted him about the idea of joining the club.
Pogba tested positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) – a compound that promoted the production of hormones in the body, including testosterone – but a Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) appeal handed him a boost.
As Sky report, the mission now for the 31-year-old is to reclaim a starting spot in the Juventus side and also perhaps prove that he can still be useful to the French national team, given the promise that he showed years ago with Manchester United and the Bianconeri.
Pogba was interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport just over 10 days after the TAS ruling in Lausanne reduced his doping ban from 4 years to 18 months, and the questions also touched on Ibrahimovic and Milan.
“Ibrahimovic will always be Ibrahimovic, a legend of the club: with his experience he can give a lot to the Rossoneri,” he said (via Radio Rossonera).
“Contact about joining Milan? Zlatan knows that I am under contract with Juventus. The pitch will speak for itself. As a player, words are beautiful but there are actions that we must take.
“As a footballer who has ambition and objectives, I want to play everywhere, whether it is in France or at Juventus, I want to be the best and show the coach that he can trust me.”
Pogba was actually close to joining Milan before he ended up at Juventus the first time, former director Mauro Bianchessi revealed recently.
