SAD: Milan surprised by Gravina Camarda comments…see more

Francesco Camarda is the next big thing in Italian football, and for that reason, AC Milan have a lot of pressure to nurture him correctly. However, the club has recently been criticised for their handling of the youngster.

If things go as planned, Camarda will not only be the star of Milan, but also the Italian National Team for years to come, and this is why the Rossoneri are being cautious. At the youth level, the striker impressed heavily year after year, and this is why he deserved a promotion.

Instead of loaning him out, the club would prefer to keep a closer eye on him, whilst allowing him senior football minutes, and this is why the Serie C option – offered by the Futuro squad – made so much sense.

This decision has been a topic of backlash, though, from the head of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina. Earlier this week, he stated that it is ‘sad to see how often they [young players] are not used by the clubs, I am thinking of Camarda at Milan. Talent needs opportunities, abroad they give them’.

In today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreMilan), it has been revealed that the club were ‘surprised’ about these comments, given they regularly offer young talents big opportunities. For Camarda, he has taken a step forward this summer, and the Futuro is simply an ‘intermediate stage’ which must occur to keep developing him.

Primarily, this will grow him physically, but it also will allow him to grow mentally, without the pressure of the Rossoneri first team picture, which he so clearly is destined for.
