F1 news: Mercedes reject Lewis Hamilton theory as…see more

Red Bull star Max Verstappen took a giant leap towards wrapping up a fourth consecutive F1 world title on Sunday as he cruised to victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Dutchman started the race in 17th after being hit with a five-place grid penalty but defied the odds to move through the pack and secure maximum points.

The day proved to be a demanding one for the drivers as Saturday’s qualification session was postponed due to wet weather and was added to the Sunday schedule.

McLaren star Lando Norris endured a difficult day as he could only clinch P6 to see Verstappen extend his lead to 62 points at the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings.

Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, finished in 10th and appears to be ready to put his recent Mercedes misery behind him and make the move to Ferrari as soon as he can.

The F1 takes a break for a couple of weekends before returning in Las Vegas later this month. The North American race will give Verstappen his first opportunity to get his hands on this year’s trophy ahead of the penultimate race in Qatar and the final one in Abu Dhabi.
