Just In: The legendary former coach of AC Milan supports Inter Milan to…see more

Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi feels Inter Milan are more than capable of winning the FIFA Club World Cup.

Sacchi particularly hailed the Nerazzurri’s “quality and experience” speaking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Next summer, Inter will participate in a newly-expanded Club World Cup.

The Nerazzurri are one of two teams from Serie A in the competition, along with Juventus.

In the meantime, Inter have plenty of other important matches to think about.

The Nerazzurri face a tough battle to retain their Serie A title at the moment. And then they will hope to make another deep run in the Champions League.

That’s to say nothing of the upcoming Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana campaigns.

But the Club World Cup represents one more opportunity for Inter to really make an impression on an international stage.

Sacchi: “Inter Milan Can Win The Club World Cup”

Sacchi gave his thoughts on the competition. “It will be played at the end of the season,” he noted. “The players will certainly be tired.”

“They’ll definitely need to do special preparations.”

“The long travel will not allow much training during the event,” Sacchi noted.

“However, I think Inter can do very well. Both for the Scudetto, the Champions League, and for the Club World Cup.”

“Just look at the squad they have,” the former Rossoneri coach noted.

“Simone Inzaghi has a lot of quality at his disposal. And a lot of experience.”

“And behind them are a solid club that supports the coach’s work.”

“I’ll say that they can win the Club World Cup,” Sacchi boldly predicted.

“In the group stage, Inter face Monterrey, which hardly seems an insurmountable obstacle to me,” he went on.

“Then it’s Urawa Red Diamonds. And lastly, River Plate, who I think will be their toughest opposition.”

“But it seems clear to me the Nerazzurri have what it takes to get out of the group.”

“Then come the knockout matches,” Sacchi added. “We’ll see who has the most energy,”

As far as Inter’s major rivals in the knockouts, meanwhile, Sacchi predicted “The usual European teams.”

He named “Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain.”

“They’re not going through good periods at the moment. But between now and June they can get back to a high level.”

“They have great technical quality,” Sacchi said. “Great coaches, and squads with a lot of depth.”

“Not unlike Inter, as I said, who have nothing to envy them.”

“Then, watch out for the South American teams,” Sacchi added. “The Brazilian teams intrigue me, and Argentine sides are always tough.”
