An Italian and Inter Milan star describes the Derby goal against AC Milan as ‘one of the best days of my life’.

Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi says that his goal in the derby against AC Milan last season was “one of the best days of his life.”

The 25-year-old looked back on the special moment in the matchday programme for today’s Serie A clash with Como, via FCInterNews.

Frattesi has certainly shown his eye for goal since joining Inter in 2023.

The Italian international has scored several important goals already for the Nerazzurri.

These included two stoppage time winners last season, against Hellas Verona and Udinese.

Often, when Frattesi has found the back of the net it has been with a decisive goal. He has gotten on the scoresheet in several matches where Inter have won by just one goal.

That was not really the case with Frattesi’s first goal for Inter.

When the former Sassuolo midfielder came off the bench and scored against AC Milan, Inter had already well and truly sewn up the result. They were 4-1 up against their city rivals.

But scoring in the derby was always going to be a special moment.

Frattesi announced himself at the San Siro against the Rossoneri, and put the seal on a high-profile thrashing in once of Italian football’s biggest fixtures.

Frattesi looked back. “Last season was tough but beautiful,” the Italian international. “We needed it to improve.”

“Since I arrived here at Inter, I’ve said that wearing this shirt is both an honour and a responsibility.”

“Because there are so many fans who follow this team,” Frattesi said. “And they push us on every week, so it’s nice to be able to give something back to them on the pitch.”

“Doing so requires a solid and united group,” the 25-year-old went on. “Which we’ve shown ourselves to be, with a lot of work.”

Frattesi then said that “In my life and career there have been a number of important moments.”

“As a child, for example, when they changed my position from striker to midfield.”

“At first I was angry,” Frattesi admitted of that positional change. “But then I came to understand that they were right to do it.”

“Then there was my debut with the national team,” he continued. “That felt like the closing of a circle.”

And of his favourite moments since he’s joined Inter, one in particular stands out for Frattesi: “The goal in the derby!”

“I remember that evening I was tossing and turning in bed,” the Italian international recalled.

“The adrenaline was still pumping. It was one of the best days of my life!”
