Sky News: Marcus Rashford loan to AC Milan…see more

Manchester United have approached AC Milan over a potential January loan move for Marcus Rashford as they look to offload the unhappy forward, according to a report.

Rashford has become a peripheral figure under Ruben Amorim, and last featured for United in their 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in early December.

Despite goals drying up recently Amorim continues to draw on his other attacking options, leaving the door open for the 27-year-old’s departure.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, writing on Revelo, United want “to find a solution” for Rashford to leave and have “held talks” with Milan over a January loan for him.

Rashford is one of United’s top earners, and Moretto claims that they would “contribute to paying part of his salary” to help facilitate a winter loan exit.

The report goes into no further detail as to how the approach was received by the Rossoneri, and Moretto emphasises that he is “talking about an offer, nothing more”.

He also all but rules out a move to Barcelona, who are currently mired in the legalities of registering Dani Olmo and unlikely to have any inclination to try and bring anyone else on board at this time.

Milan’s lack of attacking depth has been laid bare by injuries to Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic, and there are question marks over Alvaro Morata’s contribution this season.

Whether the Serie A giants make a move for Rashford, or join United in the hunt for out-of-favour PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani, remains to be seen.

Rashford has bagged seven goals in 23 games so far this season, including three under Amorim, who joined in late November.

The Portuguese boss has been diplomatic in his handling of the Rashford situation, stating that the Englishman must show he “really wants it” to regain his place in the team.

This comes after an interview given by the player before Christmas in which he admitted that he is ready to leave his boyhood club, creating a situation where an exit may be in the best interests of all parties.
