AC Milan are considering making a loan offer for wantaway Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.
Rashford has made it clear he feels ready for a new challenge having struggled over the last two seasons. After being left out of the squad for the Manchester derby due to his poor performances in training, Rashford delivered a bombshell interview making his desire to leave clear.
That led to boss Ruben Amorim exiling him, with United ready to sanction a sale for the England star. He has since been brought back into Amorim’s squad, though missed the draw with Liverpool through illness.
His return has coincided with the opening of the January transfer window. Clubs are now exploring Rashford’s status, with Milan emerging as a serious contender to hand him an escape root.
According to the Daily Mail, the Serie A side are ‘weighing up’ making a loan approach for the attacker. Milan have endured a difficult season but are recovering under new boss Sérgio Conceição.
Rashford is believed to be keen to remain in Europe, having turned down the chance to make a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. But there are several hurdles Milan will have to overcome to sign him.
The first is that United ideally want to bring in a fee of £40million for the 27-year-old. His wage demands may also be difficult to overcome, with Rashforrd currently earning £325,000 per week.
United would be willing to sanction a loan, such as the one Milan are interested in, but only if the deal contains an obligation to buy clause. Amorim made it clear on Christmas Eve that Rashford would have to maintain his standards if he is to play.
“When I feel that it is the right moment I will change something until then I will continue to think about what is the best for the team. I speak with him every day, not about the interview but about the performance,” Amorim said.
“It’s my decision. He wants to play. He is trying. It’s my decision, only my decision. I’m trying to do things my way. And it’s the only way I know if I don’t do that I will lose myself and I will not lose myself. I know what I’m doing.
“If you have big talents, big performance, big responsibility, big engagement, push forward everybody in this moment. And some guys have a big responsibility here because they are here for a long time.
“So this is maybe one of the lowest moments in our club. So we have to face it and be strong in this moment. That’s what I want for every player on the team. Everybody in Carrington knows what I’m talking about and what I want from Marcus and everybody else.”
