SAD: Leao still face critics after the bang…see more

Rafael Leao returned to the field for AC Milan with a bang yesterday in the Supercoppa Italiana final against Inter, but he still faces critics.

In the leadup to the Supercoppa, it was touch and go whether the Portuguese winger would be able to feature in either game after his injury against Hellas Verona before Christmas.

As the first game against Juventus approached, it became clear that the winger was not going to feature, despite the best efforts of everyone, and it seemed that a similar situation was awaiting Milan for the final.

Reports before the derby suggested that the winger would be the one to make a decision about his playing time, with him only returning to training shortly before the final, and of course we now know what the decision taken was.

After a difficult first half, Sergio Conceicao decided to look to his bench and brought the winger onto the pitch. Just two minutes later, the winger drove at the Nerazzurri defence, winning a free-kick which Theo Hernandez converted. He then assisted Tammy Abraham’s late goal with a delicate pass, wrapping up a historic comeback.

Following the game, Antonio Cassano was heavily critical of Leao, stating that he ‘doesn’t have the balls’ and that he should ‘be ashamed of his behaviour towards Fonseca’ as well as some other criticisms.

Today, the decider of the Supercoppa replied on his X account, replying to a video posted with two clown emojis, establishing his thoughts quite clearly.
