AC Milan senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic has provided an update on the Serie A team’s hunt for Manchester City star Kyle Walker.
After City boss Pep Guardiola revealed right-back Walker wants to leave the Premier League side, the 34-year-old has been linked with a move to Milan. Now, Ibrahimovic has admitted the England international is a “top player”, a “big leader” and that the Serie A team are “checking” if a transfer is possible.
He told DAZN: “Everyone knows that Walker is a great player, he did great things at City. When there is someone like him on the market there is a lot of interest. It doesn’t go against our vision because he is strong, he is a leader, he has dominance in the dressing room. Now we are checking if it is possible.”
After more than seven years at City, where he has won a hatful of trophies and become one of the best right-backs in the world, Walker’s time at the Etihad is drawing to a close. Fabrizio Romano claims the former Tottenham man is expected to join Milan “in the next few days.”
City travel to lowly Ipswich Town on Sunday in their next Premier League game. It remains to be seen if Walker has played his last game for the club.
