Sky: Conceicao not backing down – hoping for something more…see more

AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao stated that he is hoping for some help from the directors when it comes to new signings in January.

Parma twice led during the game, with Matteo Cancellieri netting in the first half before Christian Pulisic levelled from the spot, then Enrico Del Prato restored the advantage in the final 20 minutes with a tap-in.

When the fourth official put up the board that said six minutes, few could have believed what would ensue. Tijjani Reijnders latched onto a Yunus Musah through ball to level it, then a couple of minutes later Samuel Chukwueze bundled in a late winner off the bench.

There was even time for an argument at full-time between Davide Calabria and Sergio Conceicao, which both have since stated is now in the past and has been resolved. A lunchtime full of drama, with the end result being three big points.

Conceicao spoke to the reporters who gathered in the press conference room after the final whistle to analyse a chaotic game with the best possible ending. His comments were relayed by MilanNews.

What happened with Calabria?

“I watch the games and listen to them with a lot of passion. There was a bit more adrenaline. There was a game situation that I spoke about with Calabria and there were a few words too many in my opinion. For me, all footballers are important, like a family. If I have a son who misbehaves, I tell him.

“And here it’s the same. There’s no hypocrisy: we tell each other things like men. True, it wasn’t nice, but that’s normal in football, we’re not in church. We’ve made things clear. Sorry for the delay, but I was already planning tomorrow’s work.”

It’s another comeback…

“We’ve already come back several times, but I prefer to win normally. You can’t sleep during the week, you always have to train at your best. We have to do better in the game.

“The spirit that is there: we looked for the goal until the end against a good Parma side. There are things to improve, but there are also positive things.”

What is the secret of these comebacks?

“They pay me to make my own decisions. What can I do to improve the game? It can happen that Theo and Leao have a less brilliant day. Names are not important to me. I thought something different was needed. Theo and Leao have been very important and will be: they will play in Zagreb. So nothing important.”

What do you want from the mercato?

“Let’s see. I’m not bluffing, but I’m focused on the players we have. After Juve I said that something more was needed and I’m not backing down. So I hope that something more can come, if we don’t go to war with what we have.”

What did you think of Pavlovic’s performance?

“For me they are all starters. Pavlovic worked well during the weeks and you could see that he had a lot of desire. I like players with this spirit. Believe me, otherwise I would say the opposite as I have done other times.

“I have a dressing room that has agreed to work differently than in the past. We are changing many things, there is a transition and we suffer a bit. It is like this for all changes.”
