Galatasaray were forced to dig deep with Alvaro Morata leading the way in the absence of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

Super Lig giants Galatasaray proved their squad depth on Thursday, securing a dominant 4-1 victory against Boluspor in the Cup even without their star Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen.

The win marks a big step forward for the Turkish giants in the competition, providing a morale boost as they claimed their first win on Thursday.

Boluspor initially threatened an upset, taking an early lead that silenced the home crowd.

However, new signing Alvaro Morata quickly emerged as the hero of the hour, spearheading Galatasaray’s comeback with a crucial equalising goal in the 21st minute.

The goal was Morata’s debut for the club in the competition, instantly endearing him to the fans and demonstrating his potential to fill the void left by Osimhen’s absence.

Fueled by Morata’s goal, Galatasaray took control of the match. Eyup Aydin capitalised on the momentum, scoring before halftime to put the Lions ahead 2-1.

The second half saw Galatasaray solidify their dominance, with Yusuf Demir and Ahmed Kutucu adding two more goals to complete the rout and secure the emphatic victory.

The win represents Galatasaray’s first Cup victory this season, a welcome result after a draw in their previous match. It also continues Galatasaray’s positive historical record against Boluspor.

While Osimhen’s absence was undoubtedly felt, Morata’s performance proved that Galatasaray possessed the firepower to compete at the highest level, regardless of individual absences.

The victory is a reminder of the team’s overall strength and tactical flexibility, signalling a promising future for Galatasaray in the Cup and beyond.

The Galatasaray faithful will be hoping that both Morata and Osimhen can fire on all cylinders as they continue their cup run.
