That was also true a few days ago. But now, the Nerazzurri do not have a game in hand in which to catch up.
That means that Napoli can now point to a real, tangible advantage in the table.

But on the other hand, Inter’s fate is still in their own hands. They face Napoli head-to-head at the start of the month, and have the chance to regain control in the title race.
And Inter are reigning champions of Italy. They have also picked up five other pieces of domestic silverware in recent seasons, and reached the final of the Champions League.
Napoli coach Antonio Conte – formerly of Inter as well as Juventus and Chelsea – took stock of the title race.
“Along this journey, we’ve been the team at the top of the table for most of the way,” he said.
“I’m not going to say that you get used to it. But we have a bit of experience here.”
“But Inter…” Antonio Conte continued. “We’re talking about a team that’s won the Scudetto, reached the Champions League final, and this season they’re flying in the Champions League.”
“They have the ambition to go all the way,” the Napoli coach said of Inter.
“It would be an insult to suggest that I’d underestimate them,” Conte hit out. “They’re a grand team, an historic team that are used to winning.”
“We’re not thinking about the other teams,” said Conte. “We’re just thinking about ourselves, with our vision restricted to our own path.”
