Sky News: Abraham Between Milan and Roma…see more

Tammy Abraham has become a key figure in AC Milan’s recent success, scoring a crucial brace against his former club Roma in the Coppa Italia. The English striker’s performance has not only propelled Milan forward in the competition but has also ignited discussions about his long-term future with the Rossoneri.

Calciomercato report how Abraham, who joined Milan on a dry loan as part of a swap deal with Alexis Saelemaekers, has impressed with 8 goals this season. Initially seen as a backup or partner for Morata, he has now established himself as the primary alternative to Santiago Gimenez. While Abraham is aware that he’s not guaranteed a starting position, his performances are being closely monitored by both the management and coaching staff.

The possibility of a permanent move to Milan at the end of the season is now being considered. The club is contemplating initiating discussions with Roma to explore options for retaining Abraham beyond his loan spell. However, there are obstacles to overcome in making this transfer a reality.

One significant hurdle is Abraham’s current salary. His €6 million per year wage at Roma is deemed excessive by Milan’s standards. For a permanent deal to materialize, Abraham might need to consider a substantial pay cut, potentially reducing his earnings to around €3 million annually. If the player is willing to make this financial sacrifice, it could pave the way for a summer transfer.

Interestingly, the potential deal is unlikely to involve Saelemaekers returning to Milan. The Belgian winger has caught the eye of Milan’s coach Sérgio Conceição, who is reportedly keen on bringing him back for the 2025/26 season. This complicates any straightforward swap deal that might have been considered.
