Santiago Gimenez has admitted that he was dreaming of scoring his first goal at San Siro, while he is ready to welcome Feyenoord on Tuesday.

Milan eventually got the three points against Hellas Verona which are very important in the race for the top four, but in truth they were made to work incredible hard for them.

Santiago Gimenez notched his second goal for the Rossoneri in his second league game for the club as the away side’s resistance was finally broken inside the last 20 minutes.

A wonderful give-and-go saw Alex Jimenez dink the ball over the top for Rafael Leao, who then lobbed a square ball to Gimenez, giving the Mexican the easy task of heading into an empty net with Montipo out of the way.

The match-winner spoke to Sky and DAZN after the full-time whistle to shed some light on his emotions and also preview the second leg against Feyenoord on Tuesday, with MilanNews relaying his comments.

How do you feel after the goal?

“I’m very happy, it’s what I dreamed of. My teammates helped me score, the most important thing was the victory.”

Feyenoord come here in three days…

“It will be difficult. We want to get through the round, we are Milan and we are ready to give our best.”

Do you have a good relationship with Joao Felix already?

“We understand each other well on the pitch. I’ve already given him an assist, now it’s his turn (smiles).”

You are, together with Shevchenko and Pulisic, the only Milan player to score in your first two Serie A games…

“I think a player’s career is a marathon. More will come.”

What is it like to be at Milan with players like Leao and Joao Felix?

“With these quality players I have to always be ready, well positioned, because I get good balls like the one Rafa gave me.”
