Arrigo Sacchi believes that the “Serie A title race is far from over” even if Inter Milan are to beat Juventus this evening.
The legendary former AC Milan and Italy coach emphasized in his column in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, that Napoli will be in the hunt no matter what.
Inter Milan will have been pleased with yesterday’s result at the Stadio Olimpico.
Napoli drew their third straight match in Serie A. As with their last visit to the Italian capital, they conceded late to drop points.
That slip-up by Inter’s main title rivals mean that they can go top of the table with a win this evening in the Derby d’Italia.
And the fact that it’s against Juventus means that it would be even more of a statement by the Nerazzurri.
Arrigo Sacchi notes that “Napoli’s third straight draw gives Inter the green light to overtake them at the top.”
“It won’t be easy, of course. The Nerazzurri would have to win away at Juventus to do so.”
“However,” Sacchi writes, “it’s a viable hypothesis.”
“And Simone Inzaghi’s will give everything they have to return to the top of the table.”
Sacchi anticipates, “In Turin I foresee a match of a very high technical and tactical level.”
“Now that it’s starting to get to the decisive phase of the season, the quality of the teams starts to come out clearly.”
Sacchi also notes that “Juve are fresh off the back of a Champions League commitment.”
“The Nerazzurri, on the other hand, had no match in midweek. Therefore, they’re more rested.”
The former Milan coach hints, “That detail could make the difference.”
“But even if there’s a change at the top of the table, the race for the Scudetto is far from over,” Sacchi argues.
“Napoli have the strength, energy, and quality to get back on their feet.”
“And in my opinion, even Atalanta can get back in it,” Sacchi argues.
