Gbs: Milan – Real Madrid saga…see more

Ever since the game against Genoa in December, Alex Jimenez has been an important player for AC Milan and now, the Rossoneri are expected to re-negotiate the terms with Real Madrid.

The Spaniard made his debut with the Rossoneri last season, making three appearances in the league under Stefano Pioli’s guidance. However, it wasn’t until December that he got the chance in the league this season, starting in the game against Genoa.

Since then, he hasn’t looked back and as reported by Matteo Moretto, that Genoa game came at the right time as Jimenez had asked to be loaned out a few weeks before. Yesterday, coming off the bench against Verona, he was heavily involved in Milan’s winner with a great dink over the defence.

In short, he has impressed the management a lot and they are now looking to sit down with Real Madrid to re-negotiate the terms of Jimenez’s contract. As things stand, the Bernabeu side will have the opportunity to buy back the full-back for €9m in the summer and €12m in 2026.

Milan’s goal, of course, is to remove these clauses as they want to keep the player who they spent €5m for last summer. The relations between the clubs are great so the feeling is that an agreement can be reached, the question is just at what cost.
