In a video promoting the Dubai holiday camp Football Escapes, Wayne Rooney has been filmed coaching Kyle Walker’s football-mad son.
A video posted by The Sun showed Rooney coaching a group of keen young footballers in the hot Dubai sun, at a camp which reportedly costs £8,000 to attend. That kind of cash is small change to £150,000-per-week Milan star Walker, whose son Reign was spotted at the training camp alongside Rooney’s son Cass.
Rooney was recently sacked by Plymouth Argyle after a hugely disappointing spell at the Devon-based club which left them desperately fighting relegation from the Championship following his departure. After that debacle, the next managerial job he takes will be absolutely crucial. While he ponders that move the United legend is keeping his coaching skills sharp with some slightly less stressful kids’ classes.
Rooney’s six-year-old son Cass is still in the early stages of his footballing journey, but his older brother Kai looks well on the way to becoming a professional player. Currently working his way through the Manchester United youth ranks and showing serious potential, the 15-year-old could be set to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a Red Devils regular.
While Walker quickly adjusts to life in Italy — with Milan legend Massimo Ambrosini claiming he’s already “changed the defence” of the Serie A club — his sons are being put through their paces at a special Football Escapes event hosted by Rooney on Jumeirah Beach. According to a spokesman for the camp, the course has been “nothing short of amazing” — whether the 39-year-old will be able to have a similar impact in his next club job remains uncertain.
