Sky: Bondo discussed faith…see more

AC Milan’s winter signing Warren Bondo has shed some light on how the move materialised, as well as talking through his journey up to the present day.

Milan had been linked with a move for Bondo since 2022 when he was playing in the second division in France, and the rumours resurfaced again over the past few months when he began to impress with Monza.

In fact, he scored his only goal for Monza against the Rossoneri during their win at the U-Power Stadium last season, something that certainly seemed to leave a lasting impression on the directors.

Heading into the final day of the winter mercato it seemed that there would be no midfield changes for Milan, then Ismael Bennacer asked to leave and a deal for Bondo was accelerated.

The Frenchman signed on a long-term contract and – while waiting for his debut – he was the latest to take on the ‘face-off’ series, answering questions about a number of topics.

What does faith mean to you?

“I am very religious, faith gives me strength throughout the day. For everything in general. I pray twice in the morning and in the evening before going to sleep. I always do that.”

And Congo?

“I went there for the first time because of my mother and father’s origins and I visited an orphanage. I will definitely go back.”

Your first impressions of Sergio Conceicao?

“A great coach who has won, he also did well at Nantes. He can help me make a lot of progress.”

What about Milanello?

“Top level, everything is there to do well and I’m happy to be here, you can feel the history there. At the time I really liked Seedorf.”

What was your upbringing like?

“I was born in Evry, in Paris. My dad taught me to play football when I was 4 years old, he always follows me. When I started I gave priority to Nancy because I wanted to stay in France to continue my education, and at 15 I signed my first contract. I could have gone to PSG when I was very young but then nothing happened.”

Who do you owe the most to in football?

“To Dr. Galliani, who has done a lot for me and my family, and also mister Nesta and mister Palladino. I also thank the sporting director Modesto because he is the one who made me stay at Monza last summer.”
