Gbs: Milan directors place blame on…see more

A summit took place between the AC Milan directors and Sergio Conceicao after yesterday’s defeat to Torino, according to a report. The conclusion was that individual mistakes are making life difficult for the Rossoneri.

It has been a season filled with ups and downs, making it incredibly frustrating for the fans to follow the team. As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), yesterday was yet another blow after the Champions League exit mid-week.

Today, Juventus could increase the gap to eight points and even with a win against Bologna on Thursday, the situation will be very difficult for Conceicao. Indeed, after the positive start with the Supercoppa Italiana win, he’s now in a troubled spot.

The former Porto is only slightly better than his predecessor, Paulo Fonseca, when looking at the average points per game (1.75 vs 1.59). With these results, his future at the club will inevitably be at risk and if Milan were to miss out on the UCL, he would surely be fired.

At the end of the game last night, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada had a summit with Conceicao to analyse the situation. They reiterated their faith in the manager and placed blame on the players, more specifically their costly mistakes.

From March onwards, the manager will finally have time to work properly with the players – i.e. no mid-week games – and new assessments will have to be made after that period.
