For some fans of the Boston Celtics, there was an expectation that veteran Boston forward Al Horford might retire once the Celtics won Banner 18 at the end of last season. But the Florida alum not only came back, but is still looking like a high level player in the league despite being one of the Association’s oldest active players.
In fact, he has been playing so well for Boston this season that he has found his way onto the list of the top 2025 free agents for Bleacher Report NBA expert Eric Pincus, but that doesn’t mean he might decamp.
Could Horford actually decamp to another ball club after all he and Boston have been through together? It’s not out of the question, according to Pincus.
“Horford will turn 39 before next season, but he’s a high-character, title-winning veteran,” notes the B/R expert. “The Celtics are heavily invested as one of the teams projected to be over the NBA’s second apron.”
“While Horford isn’t going to get a massive long-term contract in free agency, the veteran could help any number of contenders looking to add an experienced big man who can defend and shoot.”
