The Dallas Cowboys are in a rebuilding phase from many angles, following the failure of the 2024 season, where they finished with a 7-10 record, when they had the expectation of reaching the Super Bowl, but injuries invaded them and the game was not on their side.
One of the players who had a hard time was tight end Jake Ferguson, who after showing signs of development in his position in 2023, hoped that he could make the leap to be a protagonist in the NFL, but also suffered with injuries and significant setbacks, to close a nightmare year with only 761 yards and five touchdowns.
On the Athlon Sports website, they recounted Ferguson’s woes, which began in Week 1 when he hurt his knee against the Cleveland Browns, then had to battle through concussion protocol and failed to regain his form, riding the negative wave of the entire team.
With the change of head coach, with former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer replacing Mike McCarthy, the changes are aimed at supporting quarterback Dak Prescott and Jake Ferguson is one of his main partners, so Lunda Wells, the tight ends coach, is calling for a recovery in Ferguson’s level.
“Last year was an unusual year for us as a team in particular. It was unusual for him with the knee injury in the first game, and then when he recovered, boom, he was out with a concussion,” Wells recalled of Ferguson and added: “So that was a tough year for him, so the most important thing is to get back on track, take care of his body and just do his best next offseason to get ready for the season.”
