Breaking news: Pulisic becomes latest Milan star to agree contract renewal the details

While on-field matters might not be these best for AC Milan at the moment, some good news has arrived regarding the future of Christian Pulisic.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes, it is a crucial week for Milan because the games against Bologna on Thursday night and Lazio on Sunday could put Sergio Conceiçao’s team back in the running for qualification for the next Champions League, if they take six points.

Away from the pitch, the directors have open contacts with the players’ agents to extend the contracts that have ‘dangerous’ expiry dates. The first to extend was Matteo Gabbia whose new deal came with a pay rise until 2029, a fitting reward for his growth.

Soon after came the agreements with Mike Maignan (until 2028 with an option until 2029, at €5m net per season), with Tijjani Reijnders (until 2029 with an option until 2030, €3.5m net) and with Lorenzo Torriani (until 2030).

The deals with the two goalkeepers and the midfielder are in place and all that is missing is the announcement that will arrive when the club deems most appropriate, which is not now. Then, another should arrive too.

Pulisic up next

Are the management finished? Absolutely not. Pulisic is also considered a fundamental pillar of the squad to build around for the future and not only because he is the joint-top scorer this season together with Reijnders.

The American also has an impressive consistency, has contributed in the big games and feels a strong attachment to the shirt. The dialogue with the former Chelsea man began in recent months and the club are willing to extend by a year, therefore until 2028 with an option for another year.

Pulisic is now inclined to accept and he too is moving towards the extension with a salary increase from €4m net per year to €5m plus bonuses, foreseen in practically all the Rossoneri’s agreements. The handshake will be soon.

Untouchable

Pulisic arrived in the summer of 2023 from Chelsea for €20.8m plus €2m in bonuses and has proven to be irreplaceable under all the coaches he has had, from Stefano Pioli to Paulo Fonseca and now Sergio Conceicao.

This season he has 12 goals overall (six in Serie A), to which he has added nine assists (eight in the league). The 15 goal milestone in 2023-24 is therefore within reach. This is why Milan moved early to secure him and above all to recognise his status as a top player on an economic level.

Christian is happy at Milan, he feels good in the dressing room and he likes the city too. His consistent performance, however, inevitably has led several teams to inquire about him.

The renewal will send a strong and clear message to the admirers of Captain America, namely that Pulisic feels at home at Milan and that the club have no intention of letting him go.
