Report: Juventus consider De Zerbi to replace Thiago Motta…see more

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Roberto De Zerbi is among the Juventus candidates to replace Thiago Motta if the Bianconeri sack their coach at the end of the season.

Italian media claim Thiago Motta is under scrutiny even if club director Cristiano Giuntoli publicly confirmed trust in the ex-Italy international after an “unacceptable” Coppa Italia elimination at the hands of Empoli earlier this week.

Gazzetta and Tuttosport already mentioned Antonio Conte, Gian Piero Gasperini, Igor Tudor and even Roberto Mancini as potential candidates to replace Motta in 2025-26, but the pink paper now adds another possible replacement.

According to the latest report of the Italian sports paper, Juventus are also considering Marseille coach De Zerbi for next season.

The French club sit second in the Ligue 1 table, 13 points below runaway leaders PSG. According to the report, Juventus have been monitoring the ex-Brighton boss despite his contract expiring in 2027.

Gazzetta reiterates that not even a top-four finish could be enough for Motta to keep his job, given that his relationship with part of the dressing room has deteriorated.

Therefore, the coach will need to improve results and performances on the pitch and rebuild connections with some Juventus players to remain at the helm in the coming campaign.
