Hakan Calhanoglu and Carlos Augusto trained separately from the rest of the squad ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash between Feyenoord and Inter Milan.
This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that Calhanoglu should be fit for the round of sixteen first leg, whilst Augusto will not be.
Inter Milan are currently dealing with a number of injuries.
Yann Sommer is currently recovering from a thumb injury. However, he should be back before the March international break.
Then, there is an out-and-out injury crisis at wingback. Federico Dimarco underwent tests today which confirmed that he has suffered a thigh strain.
Darmian joins Matteo Darmian, Carlos Augusto, and Nicola Zalewski on the treatment table. This leaves only one senior wingback available for Inter, Denzel Dumfries.
And lastly, Hakan Calhanoglu suffered a thigh knock during Inter’s Serie A clash with Napoli.
This occurred after the former AC Milan midfielder received a heavy challenge from the knee of Patenopei midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
According to Italian outlet FCIN, the likes of Calhanoglu and Augusto were in training today. However, they worked on their individual recoveries rather than as part of the group session.
Calhanoglu’s condition is little worry, reports FCIN. The Turkish international is just shaking off the knock from Saturday’s match against Napoli.
Therefore, the Italian outlet anticipate, Calhanoglu will be part of the squad for Wednesday’s Champions League clash away to Feyenoord.
On the other hand, Augusto still will not be able to play in that match, FCIN report.
The Brazilian suffered a heavy bruise to his calf during a Serie A loss to Juventus last month. And that will keep him out of action for at least one match.
But FCIN report that Augusto is the closest of the four injured wingbacks to returning for Inter.
The Brazilian should be back for Inter’s Serie A match against Monza next weekend. That will mean that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi at least has two players available on the flanks.
