Thomas Müller has been around to partake in many big matches. 2014 World Cup final, 2013 and 2020 Champions League finals, among others. Müller is certainly up to any challenge by this point of his career and Bayer Leverkusen is no exception. Müller recently chimed in on drawing Bayer Leverkusen and the upcoming fixtures.
Müller made a statement that he doesn’t really care who they play. This statement could be very easily misinterpreted but the team’s goal is to advance in the Champions League, no matter the opponent. As always, Müller perfectly embodies the club’s proud motto Mia San Mia.
Perhaps Müller should care though. While Atletico Madrid and other Spanish clubs have always been a force to be reckoned with in European competition, Bayer Leverkusen are no joke. Despite Bayern Munich’s lead in the Bundesliga title race this season, Bayern have not beaten Leverkusen since September 2022. Since Xabi Alonso has really taken the rein of this Leverkusen side, they have been virtually unbeatable.
Müller is clearly excited by the challenge and the rare opportunity for Bundesliga teams to face each other in the Champions League. This tie could certainly make for some good television.
