Mohamed Salah has revealed the greatest club king he has ever seen, snubbing legends like Lionel Messi and Steven Gerrard.
Mohamed Salah has had the privilege of sharing the pitch with some of the most talented footballers in history.
As he approaches the twilight of his career, the 32-year-old Egyptian is still reaching new heights, driving Liverpool’s quest for Premier League and UEFA Champions League glory.
In a recent interview, Salah took a trip down memory lane, reflecting on his time at AS Roma.
The Liverpool star has always spoken fondly of his Roma days, and his admiration for club legend Francesco Totti is particularly noteworthy.
“Oh, the legend, yeah, Totti. One of my idols,” Salah said via Optus Sport.
“I had the pleasure to play alongside him, he’s an incredible player. I didn’t play with him in his peak, but you can see how much quality he has.”
Salah had the opportunity to play with Totti towards the end of his career when the Roma legend was 37 years old, but he still left a lasting impression on the Liverpool man.
What sets Totti apart, according to Salah, is the unparalleled adoration and influence he enjoyed in Rome. Salah feels that Totti’s status is unmatched, even by iconic figures like Paolo Maldini and Lionel Messi.
“Nobody will be a club’s king like Totti. Never saw someone in my life have that much control and love in the city or on the club like him – And as a human being, also, he was a very, very good guy.”
With Salah’s contract set to expire at the end of the current season, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Liverpool winger. If he does depart Anfield, it will undoubtedly be on a high note.
