Milan are reportedly open to the idea of a defensive overhaul during the summer transfer window, as centre-backs Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Strahinja Pavlovic could all be moved on if appropriate offers come in over the next few months.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Matteo Gabbia is the only current Rossoneri centre-back ‘guaranteed’ to still be part of the squad at the beginning of the 2025-26 Serie A season.

The Rossoneri have struggled to get going at any stage of the 2024-25 season, and could make drastic changes over the summer in an attempt to return to competing for league titles in the next campaign.

Conversations over a new sporting director are still ongoing, and a change in coaches is still on the cards, with former Milan and Juventus coach Massimilano Allegri currently standing out as a firm favourite in San Siro.

There could be several new faces and departures among the playing staff as well, as Calciomercato suggest that centre-back will be an area of focus this summer.

Tomori, who has been linked with a return to the Premier League at various stages of the last two transfer windows, has not established himself as a guaranteed first-team starter and will reportedly be allowed to leave if an appropriate offer comes in over the summer.

The occasional England international is currently valued in the region of €20m according to Calciomercato.

Thiaw and Pavlovic are reportedly in similar situations. They have not been told that they will not be part of the plans for next season, but it is understood that both could also be allowed to leave if Milan are met with a suitable offer over the summer.
