The Pittsburgh Steelers made a blockbuster trade earlier this offseason when they dealt for star wide receiver D.K. Metcalf and signed him to a five-year extension, but they still don’t know who’ll be throwing Metcalf the ball.
The team has been primarily linked to two names this offseason, veteran quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. Now, a major development has emerged concerning Rodgers, after he spent six hours at the Steelers’ facilities on Friday.
ESPN’s (Jeremy Fowler) with an update on the Steelers and Rodgers: ‘They’ve already got a contract offer standing out to Rodgers in place. So they talked about fit. He met with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, Mike Tomlin, owner, Art Rooney, GM Omar Khan.
“In fact, I was told the Steelers wanted to make this meeting happen so much they skipped Michigan’s pro day yesterday, which if you know the Steelers, that’s a big deal. The whole contingent goes to every big pro day.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Horrible investment. He won’t last three games,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Steelers are cooked …I’m sorry this is not the way,” one fan added.
“Are we going to find out that the Steelers didn’t go hard after Fields because Tomlin really wanted AR?” one fan wanted to know.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Steelers and Rodgers can agree to terms.
