Report: how Hernandez, Maignan and other Milan stars fared internationally

AC Milan had a number of players represent them internationally on Sunday, and there were some huge moments for them, whilst others had nights to forget.

Over the international break, Milan have had 15 players represent the club, and 2/3 of them were selected in yesterday’s batch of fixtures. However, not everyone was able to show themselves off at their best level.

We start in France, where Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez both featured for Les Bleus. The goalkeeper certainly had a good performance, keeping a clean sheet and making two penalty saves. However, Theo did not share the same fate, unfortunately, as he missed his penalty in the shootout.

Heading to Portugal, Rafael Leao was a starter against Denmark, but he only played 62 minutes, failing to impact much of the game. Joao Felix, though selected in the squad, was an unused substitute.

Strahinja Pavlovic and Luka Jovic both had notable performances for Serbia against Austria, as the hosts won 2-0, with the central defender playing the full game, and the striker assisting Serbia’s second goal.

Unfortunately for Tijjani Reijnders, the Netherlands were beaten by Spain, but the midfielder still played 110 minutes – a shift as normal for Tijji.

The bad fortunes continued as the United States were beaten by Canada in the third-place CONCACAF Nations League fixture. Christian Pulisic played 69 minutes whilst Yunus Musah played 20.

Then, Mexico were named the CONCACAF champions, as they beat Panama 2-1 on Monday morning. Santiago Gimenez was unlucky to not contribute, despite playing 96 minutes of the fixture.
