LeBron James made an honest admission about his groin injury following his Lakers return.
LeBron James made his return to the court for the Los Angeles Lakers after missing seven games but it was in a losing effort against the Chicago Bulls.
It was also one of the Lakers’ worst performances of the season, as they allowed 146 points against the Bulls, matching the franchise record in a non-OT home game.
James did not look at his best either as he put up 17 points, six rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes against the Bulls.
After the game, James admitted that he felt a “little rusty” on the night, having returned from a groin injury that had kept him out for the previous seven games.
“I just take it day by day,”James said when asked if he was confident that the groin injury was behind him. “I can’t worry about what can happen in the future. But I got through today.
The Lakers need to rediscover their form as soon as possible. They have a 4-6 record over the last 10 games and are currently on a two-game losing streak.
That is not what they need right now, considering how tight the West is. Teams like the Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers are all chasing playoff spots and in much better form than the Lakers.
Of course, James’ return should help the Lakers a lot. While he might have looked off-color against the Bulls, the expectation is that he will soon rediscover his form. That is what we have witnessed happen for over two decades now.
