Sport news: Inter hope history repeats itself after Juventus and Milan fire coaches…see more

This is only the second year in history where both Juventus and Milan sacked their coaches mid-season, but the precedent bodes well for Inter.

The Rossoneri wielded the axe on Paulo Fonseca’s tenure on December 30, not even six months into his experience at San Siro.

Today, the Bianconeri announced that Thiago Motta had been fired to make way for Igor Tudor as caretaker manager until the end of the season.

This is an extremely rare occurrence, as only once before had both Juventus and Milan dismissed their tacticians before the season was out.

That was in the 1963-64 campaign, which might bode well for Inter supporters who believe in signs from the stars.

This is because that was the year that the Nerazzurri won their first ever European Cup under coach Helenio Herrera.

Also that season, Juve sacked Paulo Amaral to bring in Eraldo Monzeglio in October 1963, followed by Milan dismissing Antonio Carniglia in March 1964 to hire Nils Liedholm.
