Santiago Gimenez will return to Italy as a CONCACAF Nations League champion, and the good news for AC Milan is that he should not arrive back injured.
Mexico won the Nations League after beating Panama 2-1 in the final thanks to a brace from Raul Jimenez. Gimenez remained on the field for almost the entire match and was only substituted in added time at the end of the second half.
However, there were some worries raised about his condition because of a video published by TV Azteca Deportes in which Gimenez can be seen limping noticeably at the end of the match while he is heading for the dressing room.
Question marks arose about whether it was a physical problem or if it is just tiredness after the tough match played against Panama, given that at no point was the striker seen having ice on any part of his body or seeking medical assistance.
According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), there seems to be nothing to worry about for the striker after the knock he got. Corriere dello Sport also write that the Mexican medical staff have not officially communicated to Milan about physical problems for Gimenez, so it should just be a bit of tiredness.
The striker will obviously be evaluated by Milan as soon as he returns to Milanello. If no problems emerge, he will resume regular training with his team-mates in view of the next match at Napoli on Sunday evening.
