AC Milan and Fiorentina will soon discuss the futures of Yacine Adli and Riccardo Sottil, and a report has claimed that a swap deal is possible.
As FirenzeViola recall, a few hours before the closing gong of the winter transfer window, Fiorentina let Sottil go to Milan on a paid loan with an option to buy that is set at €10m. It is a figure equal to the buy-out option that La Viola have for Adli, who joined in the summer.
There are several reasons that Sottil could remain at Milan, despite not being used so extensively due to the presence of other top players in the side. There is an ’emotional’ factor given that he grew up a Milan fan, as well as his versatility and his status as a homegrown player.
Meanwhile, despite a few too many physical problems (especially in the ankle area), Adli has still given his contribution for Fiorentina, also scoring a few goals. The fact that the two options to make the deals permanent was set at the same price could therefore very much be by design.
The two clubs could think about a straight swap at the end of the season, when the time to decide comes. However, Adli did state in an interview yesterday that he is not closing the door on returning to Milan.
“My goal is to finish the season in the best way possible and take Fiorentina as high as possible, then we’ll see what happens at the end of the season,” he said.
Of course, Milan are a big club, I spent two extraordinary years where I became very attached to the club, but Fiorentina are also giving me a lot. So we’ll see what happens at the end of the season. Now I’m just thinking about winning games and bringing something important here to Florence.
