Rafael Leao continued to attract attention from Premier League side Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window, but Milan are keen to keep hold of their star attacker even if the Rossoneri fail to secure Champions League qualification this season.
According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Chelsea are keen on the idea of putting in an offer for Leao during the summer transfer window, as he is one of several Milan players – along with Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez – who could potentially leave if there is no Champions League football in San Siro next season.
Milan have little interest in letting Leao leave, given that he is under contract until the summer of 2028.
The Portugal international has a release clause in his contract worth €175m, which is intended to put opponents off submitting any offers. Calciomercato.com claims that Milan will not even entertain offers below the €100m mark.
Still, there has been plenty of interest in Leao over the course of the last year. There was reported interest from the Saudi Pro League in January, while Chelsea had reportedly opened discussions with Leao’s agent Jorge Mendes earlier in March.
