Report: Bronny James likely to have minutes cut back even more as Lakers make roster move with fan favorite

The Los Angeles Lakers have officially converted Jordan Goodwin’s two-way contract into a standard two-year NBA deal, securing his role on the team for the remainder of the season and beyond.

In order to make room on the roster, the team waived forward Cam Reddish, who had struggled to find consistency since joining L.A.

With Goodwin earning a permanent spot on the roster, Bronny James could see his minutes reduced even further. The young guard has already struggled to carve out a significant role in the Lakers’ rotation, and Goodwin’s defensive skills and three-point shooting may push him further down the depth chart.

Since being called up from the Lakers’ G League affiliate, the 6-foot-5 guard has proven to be a valuable asset. In his limited minutes, Goodwin has demonstrated his defensive prowess, hustle, and ability to space the floor. He has averaged 6.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting an efficient 47% from the field and an impressive 41.3% from three-point range.

While Goodwin’s stock has been rising, Reddish has struggled to make an impact. The forward started 26 games for the Lakers last season but has seen his role diminish significantly. Over two seasons with L.A., he averaged just 4.5 points per game on 39.3% shooting. Since the end of January, he has appeared in only two games, making him an expendable piece as the Lakers restructured their roster.

By securing a standard contract, Goodwin will now be eligible to participate in the playoffs, giving the Lakers added depth in their backcourt. His defensive tenacity and growing confidence as a shooter could prove valuable in high-stakes situations. With this move, the Lakers are betting on Goodwin’s potential and his ability to contribute in meaningful ways as they push for a strong finish to the season.

As the postseason approaches, all eyes will be on how this move affects Bronny James’ development and role within the team. The Lakers’ front office continues to make strategic adjustments, and this latest decision signals their commitment to maximizing roster efficiency and playoff readiness.
