LeBron James’ wife, Savannah James, opened up about the challenges of motherhood, particularly raising two sons.
Parenting children is no joke, especially when you’re a young mother to boys, and that’s exactly how the wife of the Los Angeles Lakers star felt.
In the latest episode of her “Everybody’s Crazy!” podcast with host and longtime friend April McDaniel, Savannah James made an honest admission about parenthood and starting a family at a young age.
Savannah James reflected on becoming a first-time mom at 18 when she gave birth to their eldest son, Bronny James. She then navigated another pregnancy at 20 with their second son, Bryce James.
The couple welcomed their youngest, Zhuri Nova, in October 2014, when she was around 28.
However, being a mother to two boys proved to be a lot tougher than she imagined.
Savannah James admitted that she struggled to “find” her true self beyond being a mom to her children and poured everything into that role.
“With the boys, especially, it was really hard for me to find an identity outside of motherhood,” she said, adding, “I felt like that is where my identity was supposed to be so I just kind of put all the eggs into that basket.
With her confession, the NBA star’s wife received a great deal of respect from her followers, praising her toughness in being a mother.
“I’m not a mom, but I love your vulnerability… it looks like you’re growing into your own and you have an identity now and that’s all that matter,” a commenter said.
The same goes for a second user who remarked, “And you are an incredible mom @mrs_savannahrj.”
“This is why I love seeing the many sides of Savannah today,” one follower wrote.
For a woman who had children so young (18 and 20) and is still very much growing and developing, you have done an amazing job raising all these children with style and grace. Yes, being wealthy definitely has its perks, but you handle everything that comes with the [basketball] world with such eloquence. Continued prayers to you and your beautiful family,” a supporter noted.
LeBron James and Savannah James’ sons both followed in their father’s footsteps.
Bronny James was drafted by the Lakers, eventually making history with his dad as the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time and on the same team.
Meanwhile, their second son, Bryce James, led Sierra Canyon to a state title. In addition, he has committed to play for the University of Arizona as part of the class of 2025.
