Russell Wilson is headed to the New York Giants, recently signing with the NFC team after a hectic free-agent period.
As Wilson embarks on his new chapter in New York, after one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he and his wife Ciara, took to social media to share some exciting news with fans.
Ciara, a singer and songwriter, has built a massive fanbase on social media, having over 35 million followers on Instagram.
With the help of her influence and Wilson’s voice in the NFL community, the two have helped raise $3 million for the V Foundation, a charitable organization founded by the late Jim Valvano, with a mission to find a cure for cancer.
“$3 million raised,” Ciara said. “What a blessing to be a part of this magical night. Moments like this mean so much to Russell Wilson and I.”
The V Foundation also posted about Ciara’s announcement, giving credit to the singer and the Giants quarterback for their support.
“Our board members Ciara and Russell Wilson are bringing the impact at the V Foundation for Cancer Research Sonoma Epicurean,” posted the V Foundation.
Russell Wilson and Ciara are closely to with the organization, using their very own Why Not You Foundation, which was founded by the couple in 2014. Their nonprofit organization is dedicated to empowering youth to lead with a “why not you” attitude.
The couples foundation has a mission to fight against poverty while aiding children’s health services and education.
Both foundations have been partnered in the fight for cancer, with Russell Wilson and Ciara serving on the board of the V Foundation, which was originally founded in 1993.
