Kyle Walker was forced to deliver a “we are not Lionel Messi” message to AC Milan team-mate Joao Felix during a half-time scolding.
England international Walker felt the need to speak with his Portuguese colleague when making his way back onto the field during the interval of a Serie A clash with Napoli. Milan clearly needed to change something as they were trailing 2-0 at the time.
Chelsea loanee Felix was, in Walker’s opinion, trying too much when in possession. The experienced full-back, who is on loan in Italy from Premier League giants Manchester City, was seen telling Felix: “Pass the ball, we are not Messi.”
Walker’s advice seemingly fell on deaf ears as Felix was replaced just 10 minutes into the second half. Milan went on to lose the game 2-1, with Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez missing a penalty that he took ahead of USMNT star Christian Pulisic.
Walker has suffered just three defeats through his 10 appearances for Milan in all competitions, but has seen them slump to ninth in the Serie A standings. That is giving him more food for thought, with issues already being addressed off the field as he attempts to save his marriage to wife Annie Kilner after fathering two children with former Love Island contestant Lauryn Goodman.
