Sport news: Cristiano Ronaldo’s Milan transfer for Club World Cup deemed unreal…see more

Cristiano Ronaldo may be heading out of Al-Nassr to play in the Club World Cup this summer, but a potential move to Inter, mentioned by European media, has already been deemed unreal.

Sky Sports UK reported last week that Ronaldo could leave Al-Nassr at the end of his contract in June or even use a special transfer window at the start of the same month to join a club participating in the Club World Cup.

Although the UK broadcasters did not directly mention Inter, other media outlets have assumed the defending Serie A champions would be a possible destination for the Portugal international, who has already spent three years at Juventus.

The Old Lady and their rivals Inter will be the Serie A clubs involved in the Club World Cup this summer, a competition in which Al-Nassr won’t participate.

Sky Sport suggested that FIFA would want Ronaldo to participate in the tournament, while the Portuguese superstar would be tempted to play in the new competition, possibly with a club that aims to win it.

Tuttosport, however, reminds Inter President Beppe Marotta, a Juventus CEO when Ronaldo signed for the Bianconeri in 2018, wasn’t convinced by the deal.

“I didn’t entirely agree with it,” Marotta said in previous months.

“The player can’t be questioned, but it was a demanding deal in financial terms.”

It is widely recognised that ex-Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici played a major role in negotiations with Real Madrid and Ronaldo in July 2018, which led to Marotta’s departure from Juventus a few months later.

Tuttosport suggests Ronaldo’s Inter transfer, even just for the Club World Cup, remains highly unlikely, as their report ends with: ‘Well, it’s time to return to real life now.’
