Ahead of tonight’s derby, Milan and Inter have faced each other eight times in the Coppa Italia knockout stage before the final, with both teams advancing four times (the most recent in favor of the Nerazzurri in the 2021/22 semifinals).
This will be the fifth time a Milan derby is played in a cup semifinal, following previous encounters in the Coppa Italia in 1984/85 and 2021/22, as well as in the UEFA Champions League in 2002/03 and 2022/23. After Milan progressed in the first two instances, Inter prevailed in the two most recent ones.
Milan has scored only one goal in the four derbies played at home in a cup semifinal (a goal by Roberto Scarnecchia in the 1-1 draw on June 26, 1985, in the Coppa Italia), failing to score in the last three (twice in the UEFA Champions League and once in the domestic cup). Overall, the Rossoneri have not won any of these matches (3 draws, 1 defeat).
