Inter Milan star midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu admitted he would love to play for Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray in the future.
Speaking to Turkish outlet Sabah via FCInterNews, the 31-year-old reiterated his commitment to the Nerazzurri.
Hakan Calhanoglu has turned into one of the world’s best midfielders since swapping AC Milan for Inter in 2021.
Indeed, after a topsy-turvy spell at the Rossoneri, the Turkey international has blossomed in the blue part of the city.
Last summer, he turned down an approach from Bayern Munich to pledge his loyalty to the San Siro.
However, Calhanoglu may not be immune to potential calls from his native country.
Galatasary is seemingly the club of his dreams, though it’s hard to see him leave the Nerazzurri anytime soon.
For context, Simone Inzaghi still views him as a cornerstone of his star-studded midfield department.
“I’m very happy at Inter,” Calhanoglu stated. “We don’t know what the future holds. I would like to move to Galatasaray.
“It would be an honor for me to wear the Galatasaray jersey one day.
“I always accept the call without hesitation. The Turkish flag, my homeland, my country – these are very precious to me.
“Wearing the national team jersey and being captain – I can’t find words to describe these feelings.
“It’s the most beautiful sensation in the world… I am aware of my responsibility.
“When an offer comes from the Turkish national team, it’s not something to be debated or discussed.
“It’s an honor and a privilege for me.”
Meanwhile, Calhanoglu confirmed he has certain pre-match rituals.
“I always ask for my family’s blessing before matches,” he added. “I talk to my kids and my wife.
“On match days, I take a nap at midday or rest with my eyes closed. Then I take a cold shower.
“If I’m with the national team, I listen to the Turkish national anthem before the game to focus.
“If I’m playing for Inter, I listen to foreign music instead.”
Finally, Calhanoglu admitted there’s one game he could never forget.
“The one against Borussia Dortmund when I played for Hamburg.
“The goal I scored from 40 meters was talked about all over the world. I can’t forget that game,” he concluded.
