This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that Calhanoglu will play in a box-to-box midfield role.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has a few factors to juggled in naming his midfield trio to face Parma this evening in Serie A.
First of all, there are a couple of notable absences.
Nicola Barella will sit the match out as he serves a one-match suspension. And Piotr ZIelinski is still out with a calf injury.
Then, there is the question of squad rotation, Inzaghi will be wary of overusing key players with the team playing twice a week for all of April, with a huge Champions League match against Bayern Munich up next.
And according to Sky Sport Italia, Inzaghi has settled upon a solution in midfield.
Kristjan Asllani will start this evening’s match.
The Albanian will miss next Tuesday’s match against Bayern Munich through suspension. He had also served a suspension against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia.
Therefore, Asllani will certainly be fresh for this evening’s match. He will start in holding midfield.
But that will not mean a rest for Hakan Calhanoglu.
Rather, the Turkish international will move from his usual position at the base of midfield to a box-to-box role.
Then, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will start this evening’s match.
That means that Davide Frattesi will drop to the bench.
