Sport news: Austin Reaves has set a new Lakers record after Friday’s game

As the Los Angeles Lakers prepare for this season’s NBA playoffs, Austin Reaves has been on a tear. He has scored at least 30 points in four of their last five games, and in his last 13 games, he has averaged 26.6 points a game while shooting 52.9% from the field and 41.6% from 3-point range.

While his 3-point shooting accuracy has been up and down for most of the season, he has been absolutely hot in that department in his last two contests. He made nine of his 16 3-point attempts on Thursday versus the Golden State Warriors, and on Friday, he connected on six of his nine attempts from that distance.

In doing so, he has become the first Lakers player to hit 15 3-pointers in a two-game span.

Reaves’ latest outbursts have boosted his scoring average on the season to 20.2 points a game, giving L.A. three players who are averaging at least 20 points per contest. The team now has a legitimate big three as he seemingly raises his game over time before everyone’s eyes.
