The Los Angeles Lakers were able to take care of business on Friday night against the New Orleans Pelicans by a final score of 124-108.
With the win, the Lakers improved to 47-30 on the season. As the NBA Playoffs continue to draw closer, every game is important for seeding purposes.
Austin Reaves has been on a tear of late. He has become a legitimate star and has formed a “big three” alongside LeBron James and Luka Doncic.
Against the Pelicans, he scored 30 points to go along with seven assists, while shooting 8-for-13 from the floor and making six of his nine 3-point attempts.
Over the last 13 games, he has been on a tear.
As shared by NBA Retweet on X, Reaves has put up huge numbers over the last 13 games. He has averaged 26.6 points per game to go along with 5.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. He has also shot 52.9% from the floor and 41.6% from the 3-point line on 8.7 attempts from distance per game.
In addition to his big numbers, Reaves has also accomplished team history. He now holds the record for most made threes in back-to-back games with 15.
Reaves has been proving a lot of people wrong. One of those people is former NBA player Chandler Parsons.
Parsons called Reaves a 15-point, five-rebound, and five-assist kind of player at his ceiling. Clearly, the Los Angeles guard has surpassed that ceiling.
Due to how Reaves has been playing, Parsons recently walked back his previous comments.
“He didn’t take it as an insult,” Parsons said. “People who don’t know him or anything about him took it as an insult. … I was wrong. He is playing really good and I’m happy for him.”
