Breaking news: No serious Gimenez injury after Milan scare

Milan are reportedly reassured after tests showed no serious damage for Santiago Gimenez, who they hope to be ready for Friday’s match against Udinese.

The Mexico international came off the bench during the 2-2 draw with Fiorentina at San Siro on Saturday evening.

His game lasted only 25 minutes, because following an awkward fall in a collision with goalkeeper David De Gea, he was forced off the field with breathing difficulties.

According to Sky Sport Italia, today’s tests showed no lesions or fractures, so it is purely a bruise to the ribcage and abdominal muscles.

Gimenez did not participate in training today, as he continues to feel pain, but he will be monitored on a daily basis.

The Rossoneri medical staff hope the centre-forward can be ready and potentially even start Friday’s Serie A match against Udinese.

Tammy Abraham had also gone off during that game with Fiorentina, but it was simply fatigue and not an injury.
