ESPN: Simone Inzaghi ready to square off with Bayern Munich…see more

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi knows that playing at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich in the Champions League will be a special atmosphere — and a tough task.

“It’s definitely great to be here in this stadium. It will be a difficult game, against a very strong team in a beautiful stadium. But we know how much effort we’ve put in to get here and we’ll give it our chances. Bayern have an experienced team in the Champions League. They always reach the latter stages. They’re the favourites for the title alongside Real Madrid. But we want to play a great game (on Tuesday),” Inzaghi told Sky Sport (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Bayern are always intense and aggressive, that’s their characteristic. They have important absences just like us. We are without 5 players and they also have some players out. We will have to suffer but there will also be times when we’ll cause Bayern problems.”

Inzaghi thinks one player from Bayern Munich who could cause Inter Milan problems is Thomas Müller.

“Müller is a champion. He’s won so many titles and deserved all of them. I respect him a lot. I’ll play against him for the fifth time now and he always caused problems for my teams. He’s a special player,” said Inzaghi. “(Jamal) Musiala is one of the best players in the world. It’s a heavy absence for them. But thinking that Thomas Müller or Serge Gnabry can replace him shows what kind of team Bayern have.”

As for his own team, Inzaghi had a mixed update on his defensive unit.

“(Alessandro) Bastoni more yes than no. (Federico) Dimarco more no than yes,” Inzaghi stated.
