Sky: Milan’s initial plans for the summer…see

The summer mercato is quickly creeping up on us, and AC Milan need to make some decisions about the way forward. However, with no sporting director in place, there are limits in place.

With decisions about a sporting director taking so long, Milan are left in a purgatory, where they cannot really make any decisions about the future, considering it may not align with the new ideas. So, it is quite a standstill.

However, ideas can still be had about the future, and conversations can begin to take place about what may be right for the club moving forward.

This morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, as seen below, states that evaluations are already taking place for incomings and outgoings, and it starts with renewals – namely those involving Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez, who both can leave the club in 2026, with no progress.

No one wants to see the duo leave for nothing, but the finances must be right on everything, and that would include their market valuations.

Then, the priority would be on improving the defensive structure, where there have been issues for years in Milan. Goals in midfield need to be shared, to lessen the pressure and reliance on Tijjani Reijnders, then Tammy Abraham’s future will be visited with a purchase growing in favour.

In fact, the Englishman is the big idea currently, but his purchase would need to be negotiated with Roma. It could become the first mission for the new man, perhaps.
