Throughout the first part of the season, many thought that Pavlovic was struggling too much to be a genuine starter for Milan. So, when reports emerged that suggested he could leave in January, there were no surprises.
However, there was also intrigue from Atalanta in the latter part of the window, and the Rossoneri opted to keep him. Now, that looks like a great decision.
In the past few months, the Serb has remade himself and looks a lot more solid at the back, with his best performance coming against Udinese on Friday night. Though it is a performance that we have seen quite regularly.
As Milan Press write, the youngster showed heart in defence, something which the Diavolo have been crying out for. Then, he also has fewer responsibilities on the ball, which lessens the risk of a mistake.
So, there is a genuine question to be asked about whether the future at the back can be built with Pavlovic, after all, he has already shown how much passion he has, and if he can sharpen his traits, it would surely be a no-brainer.
Real Madrid have already taken an interest in his recent performances, so perhaps it is a sign that Milan were initially missing.
