In recent years, AC Milan have had consistent issues in defence, and there have been several problems within the area. Unfortunately, there has not been a fix yet.
Last season, Milan struggled consistently with injuries in the defensive line, and this caused many to expect a bit of a defensive rebuild in the summer mercato. When that arrived, a new problem came with it.
Instead of being impressed with recruitment, many were frustrated with decisions made, with reports suggesting that the mercato spending had been wasted on players that were not improvements on the current squad.
So, going into another summer mercato, there is a need to get it right, and Igli Tare could be the solution, as suggested by Marco Guidi of Gazzetta dello Sport, via Milan News.
“The season has told us how the central defensive package (Gabbia, Thiaw, Tomori and Pavlovic) can be improved with the market: Tare at Lazio brought in De Vrij, Luiz Felipe, Hoedt, Acerbi and Gila at a low cost, who knows if he gets the job he might not try a surprise hit.”
The Albanian director is the favourite to be the new Milan sporting director, so it is possible that his first mission will be to recreate some of his best moves.
